Literally, trash.

I cannot wait to see what the circus drags in when we finish our hiring blitz this month. We are getting all our summer hiring done and I cannot believe what the trailer park is dragging into the Krog out here. no

All I can do is shake my head when these goofballs come in with their sweatshirts on with missing teeth and stale breath and ask for the HR Manager. WTF! I am glad you wore your clean jeans with holes in them rather than dirty jeans with holes in them!! Most of these grown men don't bother to take their hats off either.

I know it is just a grocery store but have some class! disbelief

No one with standards would work at kroger. Kroger usually gets left with the leftovers that couldn't be hired at a real store.

WoW and you are an HR person, what a bitch! and solid proof of how this company treats the people they hired like dirt on the bottom of their shoes.  This is the worst **** company I have ever worked for and here you are living proof.

I strongly disagree with the second poster (above).  I do have standards and I always try to do a very good job. But I know I'm in the minority.

YES, I know there are a lot of "trash" employees here at Kroger but a lot of that is related to the 'times' we live in.............so many parents are not teaching their kids to have a REAL work ethic.........watching too much stupid meaningless TV, Netflix, or constant staring at their cellphones, texting, worrying about what their next nasty trashy tattoo is going to be, where the next beer party will be held, etc.  A cancer stick hanging out of the corner of their mouth all the time..........so their kids will naturally imitate their parents.

On another note...... I can say that many companies employ a subtle (and not so subtle) age discrimination...........they don't want to hire anyone over, say, 35 or 40. Which I know is illegal, but what can the average person do?

Age discrimination is rampant in today's America.  Even thought he average older person (with exceptions, yes, I know) is a more conscientioius worker than a 16 to 20-year old.  they are more likely to need a job to actually PAY BILLS!

In Kroger's defense , they did hire me and I was about 55 at the time.   On my online job search I applied at about 30 places and alot of them ask questions in any attempt to gauge how old you are. Many of them refuse to grant an interview and even give a person a chance......... oh well.

One guy we hired a while back would fit into the "trash" group. He was an alcoholic and homeless. Well he decided to get cleaned up, check himself into rehab and get a job. Looking at him now, you would never know he was homeless unless he told you or you already knew. He's a nice guy and busts his ass. An old buddy of his asked him if he wanted to peel a few cans with him and smoke, he said, "no thanks. I have to be at work at xxx time and I want to stay straight." This was a few years back and he's still doing good woeking at my store.

Lol, read a page from your diary!

You are proof Americans will make an excuse for anything they do. If you come to an interview wear appropriate clothing, take a bath and brush your teeth, and make sure you cover your underwear.

I am surprised, but understanding of the poorly dressed teenagers that come after school but as for the adults that roll out of bed. NOPE. They know better.

Green sweatsuits smh. Dirty, chili stained t-shirts wtf.

One thing good about my krog is  half the store is teens and half is over 40.

That is great! I hope that happens with the alcoholic I helped fill out an application. He is a regular. He has bad shakes but he said to me last week he wants a job.

Kroger could be high class if they put the right people in charge. People would actually work if Kroger cracked down on them and stopped letting them get away with laziness. I see so many people on their phones, not in their departments, and leaving their work for some one else to do. When they see something I'm not doing right they have no hesitation in telling me, but the others who are constantly not working they leave alone. The Leads can not even Lead. It's crazy!! I have only seen one Lead in my store that actually has their team working like a team. Other Leads just let's **** happen!!!

Nothing against HRs' but my HR can be sweet as sweet can be one minute, then a royal bitch the next. I think she's a wonderful person, but I don't think she has good judgement when it comes to certain people. I'm one of those people. I'm not sure if she hates me or if she just doesn't get me. I come to work and work. I sometimes end up doing the work of 3 people, while others goof off. Yes, small things makes me roll my eyes, but it's not personal towards my HR. It's what I'm already dealing with or dealt with before she even got on me. I just wish she would talk to me differently. If I need to do something different, just tell me. I'll do it different. If I'm not doing something that I'm supposed to, just tell me, I'll do it. But please recognize the work I do and speak to me in a nicer tone. I'm easy to get along with, as long as you have a good work ethic, Really! I can work as a team as long as the team is working. If I'm doing all the work there is no team, it's just me. This stresses me out then when the HR attacks me I'm going to respond. Either roll my eyes and do what you asked or speak my mind. I understand her job is stressful also. She has a whole team of people that she has to keep track of. She has to make sure she made the right choice when it comes to those she hired. She has to fire some of those that she hired. She has to be tough! I completely understand all of this.

I agree. I am taking my skill set elsewhere. I thought I would stay on but I talked to a few higher ups and I get the feeling that Krog's future is less stable for my field than other companies. Besides that, Krog emphasizes the development of retail technology in its strategic plan. Human capital is never mentioned. Employees are not the longterm future of this company; robots are. It is just a matter of when.

Does that make you one of us, with no class?  As for not being able to be hired somewhere else, WRONG! I know several people who work at Kroger and has 1 or 2 other jobs. Those people have plenty of class and have bills to pay. Those people are also over the age of 35. I don't care where you go for a job interview, you should have the respect and make the effort to look like someone who wants to work, not needs to work.

Your last line sums it up perfectly! Btw, more no shows who just interviewed as a condition of continuing food stamps. Back to their trailer park. Thanks for wasting our time. I only had to do your job and mine today! smh.

You put a lot of time into putting down your life situation Anon. You don't work hard enough. You probably are one of those trailer junkies that shows up late to work and complains half your shift about lazy minorities. Meanwhile you don't get crap done and didn't in the prime of your life. Pull yourself up by your bootstraps! We were all born with the same opportunities. No use complaining. We chose the Krog.

You are so triggered. I made your lil wank shrink just by talking about your missing teeth and dirty sweatshirt. Your ears were burning as I typed. But none of the classy people that work at Krog cared. They just read, laughed and moved on.

Triggered lil bishboy.

In order for you to insult me I would first have to value your opinion and I don't. You are the kind of person that just keeps it going and going and going. This is my last response to your immaturity. Everybody can see how the person representing Kroger treats people. Buh-Bye now.

The first mistake people made was to ASSume. This thread was about the crap way people dress for interviews, period. But the reactions were hilarious!
