Can you get introuble for going to different store for  OVER TIME?

I work in the Nutrition department and get 40 hrs. I work from 9am to 5pm and on my off days I go to a different kroger for Overtime. Now the problem I'm having is my Store manager is telling me I can't go to different store for OT due to the grocery high up not wanting OT? She then proceeds to tell me I can get a write up if I continue to do. I need money but I don't want to loose my job. Can management do this? I've been here 7 years and this is a first? Can I contact the union for this? Any advice is useful.

It is up to the high up managers.

You were warned to not work OT at another store, so now you can get in trouble.

Your store manager doesn't pay the OT.  The store you are helping out at is paying the OT.  Your store manager should not be complaining about OT.

You need to ask the Grocery District Coordinator.  Nutrition is under Grocery here.  You might need permission from the District Manager.  But then your store manager might be vindictive.  So, choose your battles wisely.

Yes and No! Both stores will start to have an issue with it and the other store will stop asking for you to come in. Not because they don't like your work. It's because the store you were hired and other employees will complain. It happened to me. After the one I was hired at started having a big fit about me working at both, the other one told me they can't have me come to help them. I just took it as Damn I must be that good that both stores want me and one is willing to pull all the strings to keep me in theirs.

Yup.  They are supposed to offer OT to employees inside the store before they ask people from other stores to do the OT.  Per our contract.

Checking with your rep. In terms of payroll the only thing that should matter to your home store is that the OT is forced to the store you worked. Its that store that approved your OT and is taking the hit on their OT budget and risking any wrath from operationa.

I've never understood peopl complaining about someone picking up extra hours at another store. Technically they could say you're being insubordinate because they told you to stop but I can easily see that being a case of grievancw through the union. The OT didn't effect your job at your home store so it shouldn't be their business.

This happened to me when i first went to my current store, my home store wanted me to help out one day a week and so i was getting OT from my home store, and no one knew wtf they were doing so it was a Kronos disaster. The store asking for the OT should be the one paying the OT but yet no one seemed to know how to do it right. Eventually it came to an end when my coordinator told me the OT needed to stop soon.

Your store manager really shouldn't be threatening you like that as long as they aren't the one paying out the OT. This is up for the store manager at the store you're helping out at to decide, if they want the wrath of the grocery coordinator on them.

Why would you get in trouble for working OT at another store. Each store is different, even if they are in the same district. One store may be ok with OT and your store may be stingy with it. Usually the store in need of OT will ask another store within their district if they can spare an extra employee for OT. It happened to me
A few times, and I said yes because 1. I was pissed off at my family and wanted to be away from them
2. I can ALWAYS use extra money
