OH crap! I'm going to be up all night, now!

I closed the last hour by myself again tonight, because of call ins. I had everything in my head that needed to be done. I clocked out and got all the way home. I then realized I forgot to get the spoons from the olive buffet and cover the olives. I'm the biggest complainer when it comes to food safety and then I did something like that. I feel horrible! I guess at least I will be prepared when I hear it from my Lead tomorrow.

Yea that isn't so bad. And not like they can overly chew you out as you were helping them out in the first place by closing when so many had called off. And trust me, I've made my fair share of hiccups as well covering when peeps have called off. Not the end of the world.

lol that's not bad at all. i know it feels bad to make a little mistake like that, it's one of the side effects of being an actual good worker. at least you acknowledged your mistake and will rectify it need be. trust me, i have a boss who doesn't exactly make you feel warm and fuzzy inside when you make a mistake, but this is the same man who last week tipped over an entire pallet of milk, so just realize that nobody's perfect and you're doing a bang up job. wink

Don't you hate that though? I often work with folks that chew each other out/talk behind each other's backs about the mistakes they make. And then they turn around and do a even BIGGER mistake than what they were witching about someone else doing?

Major prime example in my dept.(that actually just happened yesterday), a more senior co-worker was going to town about how a younger employee is such a dip **** for going so slow and how the back up decorator was another messy person or whatever cause she had so many different piping bags of similar colors in use. Welp, do to it being graduation time and we have so many orders that need filled. Said senior person is helping out the back up decorator with doing cakes and such as the main decorator is on vacation for 2 weeks.

Also some additional background that I've always heard since I've been hired on. Is the fact that we aren't supposed to take a customer's order for a cake with a particular kit if we don't have the kit in. So always check before hand. Welp, guess what happened? Senior co-worker takes a customers order, barely writes much detail about what the customer wants down on the order form. But the back up chick does the best she can with getting the name and color scheme on there and it looks good. I didn't even see anything wrong with it myself when I gave it to the customer(after he found the the right Kroger his wife ordered it from). Well it wasn't that long before we get a call and another of my co-workers took it and was on the call forty forevers. I was thinking it was someone calling for her in particular. Until I saw her grab a customer order and was telling them what was up.

Long story short, it turns out that the customer that I had just given the cake too was not pleased with the cake. Or rather should say his WIFE wasn't! As it was supposed to have been a cake with the Frozen cake kit theme on the top of it. And even though we checked over the order a few times, it NEVER said a thing about Frozen anything. And my co-worker(that had taken the call) was like is there even a Frozen kit available? As they were coming in to get it. Welp, I didn't find one, we tracked down one of the back up managers to figure out what we could do. And thankfully she wrote a refund amount on the cake for the customers. But moral of the story in something like this case or any really. Is quit pointing too many fingers at other people's errors, when you are making some of your own as well. As I personally think it was on that senior co-worker for not writing down the cake kit name and number in the first place. But I doubt she would ever own up to it though.
