Happens in our store. It's just wrong. Period.

how long have you been there?

does it happen to everybody?

how often are you requesting holidays off?

We usually don't have enough people to "cut hours" if someone takes off.  They'll need to use the person another day to make them have 40 (most holidays).  They really don't want to hire someone for our very thin dept

I don't agree it's wrong. Some people are asking for every holiday and if they don't get it they call out.  It's unfair.  It leads to chaos. I've got full time people who management allow to work when they want, how early they want, how late they want and to hell with the needs of my dept. When I tell them no, they run to management and get their way.  I've seen this in other stores too.  We should be sick of the s***.  Management should be there to back our play when it's not based on some vendetta or fundamental unfairness but the needs of the f***ing business but they DON'T.

I've got someone like that in my department. If you dare to schedule her a night, she pitches an epic b*tch fit. Lately, management's been allowing me to schedule her a night once in a while, but apparently for years she was able to get out of it any time of the former dept. heads scheduled her a night because she would cry to management about it. And then when she actually does work it, she'll have an attitude and basically just not do diddly squat. I don't care how much seniority you have, the dept head can and should be scheduled before you if we so choose.
