The Kroger I work at is big and only has two full time people working in drug gm! We have the drug gm manager and the backup. I have been part time for almost 3 years. I'm the longest lasting part time worker in that department now. I'm always asking for more hours. I was told before I got there they had 4 full time people working in that department until two of them retired and they didn't replace them with anymore full time people. I'm tired of waiting for full time! Should I just ask my store manager if he is ever going to make me full time?
My store only has 1 FT in GM, which is the manager, and 1 clerk under him (PT). Unfortunately, store management has literally no incentive to promote people to full time. Only ways of obtaining the ever elusive full time status is by entering into management or qualifying for whatever full time requirements your union has (which is usually working 12 consecutive weeks at 40 hours, but some contracts this doesn't even guarantee you get the full time position and there are many loopholes they employ, I've seen many people get screwed out of their FT status.)
My current store is the same way. One full time Drug GM manager and one part time clerk. My old store was an average size store and had a full time manager, a full time backup, and a couple part time clerks.
What are your weekly Drug/GM sales, those that have answered? We have 3 full timers here, no part timers. However, the third full timer often operates as MIC as they are training for management, so hours are usually around 100 a week.

my store is the same as your old store. one full time manager and backup with a few part timers.
Maybe the reason you're not getting full time is that there are part timers in other departments who have more seniority than you do. If you became full time, then someone with more seniority could file a grievance to become full time too.
Three full timers and two part timers, though one only gets around 12 hours a week. We are not a Marketplace. One of the full timers is called up on register frequently.
