Workman's Comp and Kroger
Permalink

Was curious to know if any one knew how much Kroger contributed towards an employee's workman's compensation if they got hurt on the job?

I ask, cause I just learned the other day, that a fellow associate of mine that works in the frozen food section, took a nasty blow to the back of his head by one of the blue dividing flaps on one of the trucks. And had a pretty serious cut on the back of his head. Coincidentally enough, once he went to the doctors and got staples and scans and what not done. They found out he has a golf ball sized tumor in his brain as well. Rather sucks, as the dude is rather nice and helpful too. So everybody is worried for him.

Any who, long story short. As often as some of us do truck(myself included and tumor aside), does any one know if Kroger would pay for your medical bills or anything regard the incident? Or are we kind of SOL on that sort of thing? As I'd hate some **** like that to happen to me, and my fam ends up struggling with medical bills and Kroger's is all "she should have saw it coming" or something.

I doubt the tumor would be covered by Workmans comp.  It is a blessing in disguise that it was found sooner than later.

If the Associate has Kroger Health Insurance, that is the policy that would cover the tumor.  I think but do not quote me.  He would be on the hook for a limit and then the insurance would cover the rest.  With Affordable Health Care, they might want to euthanize him.

If he has no insurance, the doctors will do what they can.  He could try collecting donations at the store, add that $100 to a Go Fund me Campaign and then file bankruptcy for the rest.

An alternative would be to go to a Pentacostal/inter denominational church that knows the power of prayer and get prayed for.  Just don't go to one that does snakes unless they are changing a snake into a cane before his eyes.  Scoff if you like but Prayers do get answered occasionally.

Yea, I know they wouldn't do anything for the tumor really. And I guess he does have insurance from what I heard yesterday. That he was getting immediate surgery do to the tumor casing him unexplained pain in the back of the head prior to getting hit and loss of hearing at times. So at least that is a blessing and yea prayer does a lot of great things.
