Cultural council is supposed to relay it back. Here the district manager is supposed to come to the store and speak to selected employees about how they feel about the store
we're always told that we should just tell them whatever they want to hear so they'll leave us alone. I wonder what they'd do if they go 1,000s of surveys saying "we don't have enough damn people to do our jobs!" BTW: who is "They"?
We don't really hear about the results other than "they were better/worse than last time"
Nada. Unless they discuss it while I'm off. But heck, even when I've been on for like 6 days straight I haven't heard anybody mentioning anything about them. Other than the culture council person in our dept. asking random folks questions from the survey. Beyond that not a word has been spoken.

Amen to that one! I've definitely been about that life a **** ton lately on closing. And I soooo don't appreciate it. Most especially when the managers come around at night with the "good close" sheets to fill out what has and hasn't been done. I almost laughed in the newest managers face when she was talking about lows and holes getting filled. It's not like I turn into Gizmo and I hop in the sink and start multiplying after everybody on day shift leaves for the night.
"Re-education camp" sessions, post-survey, are held at some Dallas Division stores. "If associates gave negative responses, clearly, they didn't understand the questions."
Ridiculous.
"Correct" answers are often posted on the wall above the computers during the survey. How's that for Honesty?

RE: The annual associate survey-are the results ever communicated to you at your store?

The younger generation, who increasingly is not taught much about U.S. or world history in our modern schools, might not realize that the "re-education camps" and such things are very reminiscent of evil governmental systems, namely, communism.
Ever heard of North Korea? Brainwashing..... and being forced to do things whether or not there is any real logical reason to do so. Being told what to think. Everything is done in certain ways because Kroger assumes that the typical employee is too stupid to think for themselves, so must 'go by the book' no matter how dumb, pointless, ineffective or illogical it is.
TRUE Honesty is considered as 'bad' in many instances (although one of the the official Kroger "talking points" is that we should always be honest with our fellow employees and customers.) Tommyrot!! The actions of the Kroger corporate culture show that they don't really believe in honesty. It's more about putting on a false front and "just getting by".
we must educate the younger workers to be honest on the surveys.
Are you really getting the hours you want?
Do you feel that things are getting better?
etc.
If you answered no to any of these questions, you may want to think long and hard as you're filling out the survey.
I wouldn't be surprised if, during the survey, they tell you to hurry up so you can get back to work. You're eating into their man-hours. Surveys aren't productive. Sadly some dept heads will rush through it just so they can get back to work (because as we all know we don't have a reasonable number of hours with which to work)
