I've considered moving to customer service. I was just wondering if working customer service is as difficult as it seems ? What does the job mainly consist of ?

Making the customers happy. Which Department or are you actually talking about the customer service counter?

I made that transition, I was half CC and half Cashier before I made it to the service desk. If you can remember some codes, have good money counting habits, and can handle people getting mad at you for things other people do, and can deal with other languages fairly well, you shouldn't have any problems. Everyone makes mistakes, and if your store is worth its salt, they will understand that and you won't get into too much trouble if you follow the rules. Also, notes are your friends!!! If you catch a mistake or make a questionable decision, write a note. If a manager says do this, leave a note saying which manager said to do it, better if they sign it as well to back you. Read everything you can, and ask questions. Bring a note book for as long as you need, I had mine for 2 months before I stopped bringing it.
