Was it really necessary for them to send 5 cases of La Brea French Baguettes for freaking Bastille Day??

Like anyone in the city I work in is going to give a crap about Bastille Day, or even know how to spell it for that matter? evileye

A 2 day flash sale is NOT going to help me get rid of 5 freaking cases of them when my store is so small we only make 2 or 3 baguettes a day!

This company acts like they care so much about shrink then pulls stunts like this. -_-

To be quite honest with ya, I've never even heard of it til today. And that was only because I saw a note on our oven about it. As well as whatever meeting they are having tomorrow and the new bavarian pretzels. But neither my DH or back up manager mentioned it at all. So it must be a major headache then.

Another attempt by Kroger to inject more Internationalism into our lives. (Taste of  Mexico!   Taste of Italy!  Taste of Greece?) ) .  Bastille Day is a huge French holiday (ya know, the country known as France, located in Europe) and has nothing to do with the United States.

I think it is very important for everyone to have a good grasp at geography and know about other countries (btw the US is falling WAY behind in our school children learning/knowing about where various countries are located, and the most basic facts about them) but in this case, just a dumb attempt by Kroger to come up with some excuse for selling more groceries (another HOLIDAY!!!!)  and getting the public to come in the stores and buy more stuff while they are in the stores.

Personally, I get tired of holidays coming so often, one after the other all year long. (More work!! )   biggrin.gif    By the way, we missed celebrating Canada Day, 12 days ago.
