Just waiting for someone to get hurt

Since we are baking at another store there is a delivery service bringing our prodct to us. The problem is the delivery truck is lower than a kroger trailer. The dock plate does not extend far enough to hit the back of his truck. So not only do we have to step over the gap to get into a lower truck, we have to basically lift the carts out of the truck. We have our bread dough slacked out on plastic trays in bread totes that are stacked onto the silver 4 wheel sqaure carts. The first night we took some bread totes of so we could lift it easier but it takes at least 3 people to unload. Last night as we were trying to lift it out some of the bread totes almost slid down in between the truck and the store. I can just see someone mis stepping and falling in between the truck and the dock plate or the stacks of bread totes falling on them. I have complained to our management and the guy said he was trying to come up with a solution.  Today was only the second day of baking at the other store and I'm already done with the whole situation.

Oh boy, definitely doesn't sound good. Very and HIGHLY unsafe. They are totally going to have to something before too long.

And, I feel for ya. Was over it since you first posted about it. Not over it cause you mentioned it. But over it, cause I pictured the hot mess that would occur with so much dough that would be needed to go back and forth. And now this too? Goodnight, it's going to be hell for the next several weeks you said this was going down?

Does the truck that does the delivering of the bread and dough have a lift on the back of it?  If so then you could simply take the pan dolly (that's what those are called) of bread outside, lower the lift on the truck, put the dolly on the lift, and then raise the lift and roll the dolly on to the truck.  If the truck doesn't have a lift, does it at least have a ramp?

No it doesn't have a lift or a ramp. The guy told me tonight he is going to try to buy a ramp tomorrow. They almost lost another stack of dough tonight because some genius from my store put a stack of metal baking pans in the totes that we didn't need.

It is a hot mess. The dough is also sticking to the plastic trays by the time it gets brought over. This will be going on for 3 1/2 months apparently.  The delivery guy said he was going to try and buy a ramp tomorrow that would go over the gap inbetween his truck and the dock.

Is this is a small truck, why don't they just wheel them in on a hand truck or something like the bread vendors do?

This sounds like it's going to be a huge problem....

I'm curious as to where this store is.

I'm in Ohio. And the delivery driver was able to come up with a makeshift ramp that worked pretty well last night. Getting ready to start night number 6 of this nonsense. I need a countdown calender. They are aiming for opening our new bakery mid October.

File the complaint with the store manager.  If no reply then file it with the Ethics Point board.
