But when i went online it says i worked 0 hours for both days. I asked another employee how to do it and they showed me to do it the same way i did. Is that the right way to clock in? If not then how

Aside from scanning your finger print. You are doing it right. You might have to just fill out one of those slips of paper and explain whats going on. Or as you said your new, they probably still haven't quite gotten your hours in the system just yet? Either way, I'd talk to your DH or the HR person about it. They should be able to help you out.

But that is showing the hours you are scheduled to work, NOT the actual hours you HAVE worked. (Correct, fellow employees who have worked for Kroger a long time and know better than me?)

That is your schedule. It does not show the hours you worked.
It takes a week or four to get you into eschedule. Then, you will see what your schedule is on the Eschedule site. Currently, they are manually entering you into kronos and telling you which days to work.
You can not rely on Eschedule to always be accurate. There should be a paper schedule posted near the break room. You need to check that schedule every Friday(maybe take a pic of it). Management can change the schedule before noon on Saturday. So, you might need to check it again on Saturday. When there are changes on the paper schedule, the changes are not always reflected on the eschedule site.
When I started working, the first two weeks, I wasn't officially in the schedule so my hours would show zero. The HR lady had to manually input my hours for the week, which she wrote down for me on a piece of paper, and the FES had to override me to clock in each time. It was a pain in the ass, but after the second week, it was cool.
By me in WI, we used to be able to see our exact times in / out, and our approximate wage earnings and categories based on hours in the system within Kronos. But then Krog switched our system over and it no longer shows our timecard as "registered / synced" with what punches the clock gets. Management can see it, but we can't anymore. I miss it. It helped to know exactly how many hours I had and what I was going to getting for Net pay. Our schedule is still posted in Kronos and our request off process, but not our timecard.
