I don't like seafood, so no.

Even if I did like seafood, I wouldn't dare buy it from Kroger. The stench coming from the Meat and Seafood Markets is bad enough to make even some of my co-workers that like seafood gag.

Yeah i never have and never will buy meat and seafood from kroger. Your taking chances with your health if you buy fresh product from some krogers. Also deli meat feom aome kroger stores can cause problems too so beware. Then again the kroger i work at is nasty. You should see the produce room in the back, so gross.

It's not just the stuff from the service counter, either! My store - a Marketplace, if you can believe it - often times will have various kinds of packaged meat out for sale that are either expired or look brown/nasty. Nothing ever changes though and it's just astonishing to me that there are no consequences. Not to derail the thread too much, but I've found expired yogurts regularly in both dairy and Nature's Market, plus expired packaged produce like carrots, mushrooms and stuff - again on a regular basis.

My store manager wants us to buy our groceries from Kroger and not the competition, well I don't think so! Not when I can't trust my co-workers to do their jobs properly or management to address the problems with expired/bad product throughout the store! I'm not risking getting sick to further enrich this greedy company that cares so little about food safety!

Not to get way off topic, but packaged mushrooms are one of the most difficult item in the produce dept to make sure that outdated product is being pulled properly, especially in a big store with lots of mushroom varieties in stock. Why? because the printed 'Sell by dates" are often VERY VERY hard to read, and either lightly printed, partially illegible, upside down, or completely missing. This is a big pet peeve of mine, since I work in produce, and need to look over these packages each day to do proper markdowns if necessary. Also, customers rummaging through the mushrooms often pull the very freshest from way in the back, move them around and some of the older ones end up back behind the newer ones. I feel that the companies who sell and package the mushrooms and mark the dates on the packaging COULD mark them in a much better. very clear and legible way, but they CHOOSE to do so because they WANT the dates to be hard to read or easy to miss by the average customer. Very irritating. The same thing goes for many other items........the dates are so hard to make out.

Kroger brings their food in frozen.  They defrost it close to expiration.  Then push it.  I honestly do not purchase seafood from here.

I agree that expiration dates on packages should be clearly readable and I do understand that customers can and do move product around, but... even though it is hard and time consuming to keep up with, especially with all that Kroger expects from its employees, it's still something that ultimately has to be done. I do think Kroger needs to allot more hours/help to addressing and maintaining freshness in the perishables departments, but since that's not likely to happen...
