Are you part time?

Meat Department is usually under a different contract in most stores.  Might not be an easy switch to make.

I think if you know how to use a telxon, you might be able to bid into a different department.  It is a long shot, but you won't know unless you try.

The grass isn't always greener on the other side.

Good luck.

There are NO easy Departments...Sorry! Kroger isn't what it used to be! We seem to be inventing the wheel over and over again! Tenure is now seen as a bad thing, they would rather see Newbies working 2 weeks and quitting! While we need to retain new hires, what is the company doing to retain long timers? I'm sure Lidl or Aldi would love some of the senior Kroger Associates!

If you leave Meat Market and go to a non-service department, be prepared to be a slave to the front end and be used/abused for checking, bagging and cart round-ups. Deli, bakery, fuel, pharmacy and ClickList are safe from this, but outside of those departments, you'll be expected to get your work done plus drop everything when the front end starts screaming for help (and this is often... very, very often).

If you don't mind that then, well all the departments have their ups and downs. Grocery and produce can be back-breaking work, but produce has the added workload of having to maintain freshness. Drug/GM is a pain especially during the summertime if your store has a lot of space outdoors for seasonal furniture. Marketplaces have additional departments/sub-departments, so you have more options in a Marketplace.

If you like Meat Market but simply don't like your co-workers/current store, you may want to wait it out and see if a position becomes available at a closer Kroger store to you. If not... well, like I said, all departments are going to be difficult at times and not so hard at other times.

Yeah I like meat but positions in the stores closer to me just don't open up. Also drug GM and produce and dairy seem like they be more relaxed and easier..I'd be back up so I wouldent be called up front

I've worked in stores where both department heads and department leads have been called to the front. If management calls you to help on the front, you have no choice but to go.

Everyone is getting called up more and more because of hours being cut because GO said people are getting more productive, so hours are not needed! (In reality I believe they are trying to cut hours to pay for Clicklist and the Roundy Division integration into Kroger Land).....

I would love 1.3 hours per customer on the FE, which is what Clicklist is Foretasted to use!
