Someone on this forum once told me that there is a performance report for all the cashiers who have used Uscan. Well, I didn't think my store ran such a report, till today when I found a print out hidden deep in the drawer at the attendant station. The report shows the performance up until the beginning of this week, which is probably the past 30 days.
Surprise, surprise, I am the only cashier at the top of the list with the highest score, or "actionable events" (whatever that means) and with 0% usage of the handheld. Everybody else uses the handheld and could not survive without it. Every other cashier, even the floor supervisors, never pay attention to what the customers are doing unless the handheld starts beeping.
One supervisor I've seen multitasks a lot between bagging, working the service desk, and watching TWO Uscan banks, all at the same time! I'm the only one who stands there actually looking at the customers. I've noticed the customers I've caught trying to steal in the past while I was watching Uscan don't come to my Uscan anymore, they go to the other ones because they know nobody is watching them there.
I'm probably the only cashier who knows of such a report, other than the managers, thanks to this forum. I guess my store doesn't care if you use the handheld or barcode.
I'm secretly hoping the performance score is used by eSchedule to automatically give me more hours on Uscan.
At our store that report is out in the open for any SCO cashier to see. The report like ours should have a ratio of using both handheld and the SCO themselves out of a total percentage as the goal. For our store the goal is 80% so they want a ratio of 50% on SCO directly and 30% on handheld.
Using the handheld is not a bad thing.

I miss using the handheld with the old setup. Now, I don't have any idea what my customers are doing or what they've scanned or haven't scanned. It doesn't do me any good for the machine to complain at the end of the transaction either.
With the new setup, how can anyone even use the handheld? Let alone stand to use it?
The handheld only works somewhere between one third and one half the time. And the continuous blaring racket it makes is enough to make me want to stab out my eardrums.
Our store has straight hundreds on the scoresheet for barcode usage. We just leave the handheld on the charger the whole day unless a customer demands we scan the shopper's card on their phone.
