I don't think our store does. Woman the other night was caught stealing 2 cannisters of baby formula. Store manager and security guard talked to her for about 30 min-they let her go with our manager buying one of the cans of baby formula.
Last week a woman was caught by LP stealing cold mocha frapps.
She'd drink it throughout the store and slip the bottle in her purse before coming to the register with her other food she *did* pay for, or she would alternate between paying for it sometimes, and other times telling the cashier she already paid when she didn't.
Well last week , our LP guy stopped her when she was about to throw the empty bottle in the trash outside saying "Ma'am you have to pay for that."
Turned her right around and sent her to management's office.
She's been banned from our location.
A busted pair of shoplifters last year were banned AND arrested for stealing 600 dollars worth of raw meat.
Management was able to salvage the meat, and have them arrested because they were going to get away via cab and the cab was late.
I think your manager may have paid for the formula because he thought a starving baby was involved but he still could've banned her.
We use to have this security guard who would literally tackle shoplifters if needed. It was hilarious. You'd have this shoplifter laughing one minute thinking they got away. Next minute, they'd be pissed off, in handcuffs, being carried or drug into the backroom most of the time to await police.
Legally we can not prosecute them. The store manager can call the police. Place a shop lifting charge on them. Then the company can take it a step further if need be.
Working retail I see theft in several layers. A sin is a sin regardless of how large or small it is. This is a lie created by Satan. A sin is a sin. I see so much theft in several different layers it's all the sin of theft.I see customers read books, return them for another book and repeat. This is the sin of theft. If a customer abuses the make it right program for prices and they are using it to save a few dollars this is still a sin.If a customer pockets items and only purchases about half of them this is a sin.If a customer eats a doughnut and forgets to pay it's a sin.If a customer takes a Twin Brooks milk bottle and empties it in the customer restroom and returns it for the bottle deposit this is a sin.If a customer purchases an item at another store and finds the items is priced slightly higher at another company store: this is a sin.I could go on and on but you get the idea.
