It's a cool thing for shoppers, but if you have to cashier when it's going on, it means dealing with annoying couponers. now I dread whenever we have that going on.
I hate it cause the supply can't keep up with the demand. For example we have hot dogs five for five & ten for ten, people coming in buying 50, 100, 200 & 250.
God, yes. They are especially annoying if you work Drug/GM. We've had to place limits on baby wipes because customers were always wiping them out within a couple hours. I especially hate it when customers wipe out the shelves and then get all pissed off when there isn't anymore. Seriously, do you REALLY need 30 packs of baby wipes? Do you really need 30 bottles of shampoo/conditioner? And 30 packs of maxi pads?! How about you stop being greedy and inconsiderate and save some for everyone else so they can take advantage of the sale, too. Also, instead of sitting on your fat ass clipping coupons, do something productive with your life and get a job and make some real money so you won't have to waste your entire day looking for, dumpster diving for, and clipping coupons
Ong yessss! My entire store hates the Buy 5 Save 5 promotion, including management. It's even more of a headache when the customer doesn't read the price tags properly and 1 item not a part of the promotion throws off the entire order. Then they complain to you that it's your fault they didn't get their discounts. Then when you show them that they got the wrong item, they get bad attitudes. It's much worse working in customer service and you have to issue refunds to these type of customers.

I hate those mega deals also. Customers think that cashiers can stand there and try to figure out their order. I have always wished that Kroger would just get rid of mega deals and just put one product on sale for a dollar. Or several products for a dollar.

They have been having flash sales here lately.
On a Saturday only, all pet treats were half price.
A month ago, almost all Kroger 1/2 gallon ice cream was a $1 on a Saturday.

Careful what you wish for.....
Flash sales are the worst because there is no historical data to order for, so either you run out early, or you have tons of excess causing shrink. There is very little middle ground. The ice cream was a great example. Every story in the division ran out of ice cream, some lasted a little longer, but overall nobody had any idea. The pet treats was a bust here at least, we had so much leftover it took 2 months to get rid of. It's just too difficult to estimate on these types of events. Either you make the customer mad or you cost the company money by having far too much wasting man hours and causing shrink by reducing price well below cost to get rid of(which in turn screws up OE for future orders). This is all amplified by the fact that it's entire lines of product, so if there's 30 flavors, but only 3-4 sell on a regular basis, it's difficult to predict.
Oh, and all this coupled with the fact that we are working with skeleton crews and cut hours, so any "extra" tasks created by these flash sales are not allowable and just create more stress for department leaders & management.

If you have a FLASH Sale often...its not a FLASH Sale..... Just like Saturday Sales........ Macy's aways has a "Saturday" Sale.....its nothing special anymore
Just view it as we get paid by the hour and that means less work for you.If it gets too confusing then get a manager to take over.If the customer does their homework then it should balance out.If the quarrel with you, then you can check the fine print on the coupon and deny it or accept it.
