I don't just mean store managers, I mean department heads too. Their associates talk crap about them behind their backs and they reward them. The ones that talk the most crap get rewarded. In fact you don't even have to do it behind their backs, you can do it to their face and get rewarded.
Got to admit that I concur with this one. I mean my DH thinks I'm "shy" more times than not. But sorry, I wasn't raised to be talking about other people's infidelities and syncing up folks PMS cycles and busting out sex toy commentary with my much older MALE DH, like our department's beloved loud mouth does. On the REGULAR might I add. And the DH just laughs about it and takes it and just agrees with her.
If that makes me shy, then I guess I'll stay that way, thanks ya very much.
I've worked at a store where management was intimidating and laid down law, but at my store, the dynamic is more like these posts described.
The main reason my CSM got moved is because they were so much of a pushover, and never held frequent "caller outers" accountable, that store management was fed up with it.
Nope not 400 lbs. But for sure has a loud and big enough mouth. I mean sure I get she has worked there longer than myself and most others. And yea she and the DH have a rapport or whatever. But dude, some **** I don't think you need to really be referencing in a store or with your boss at all. And of course she gets a kick out of it as she says "well he treats me like a guy and tells me what he thinks of the female customers on the sales floor." But still, some tit for tat just need not happen.
Gah. Yea, that is not good either. I don't know if some folks home training is gone by the wayside or what. As we used to have a older lady that worked in the Deli dept. That would come down with a few other deli peeps to help package and make the cookies(before I became full time). And that woman would be talking about who all is a virgin and not. Even one of the back up managers. And it's like why is it even any concern of yours' in the first place?
Which again, leads me to think that the managers are some kind of stupid to not corral some of the lip around there. I mean don't you want some level of respect from your employees at least once in your life? Or I should say at least for half a second anyway.
