i just got promoted as an assistant head meat cutter and the store im at is unorganized and under staffed. I have only done the job for a few weeks and want to go back to my original store. Their is an opening at my my old store for the same job I have now so it would be a latteral move  and closer to home. Would this be possible with me only doing the job for a few weeks. Please help.

It all depends on your relationship with Store Manger and Coordinator. You will have to express your completely willing to perform the job, but am second guessing your decision in a store that is unorganized and under staffed (you have to make them think your going to step down).

In Kroger land, they can do anything they want.......even if they say they cant.

I think that only applies if the store you're currently at is over a certain number of miles from where you live.  If the store you're at is ten miles from home and the store you want to transfer to is five miles from home, then they're not going to allow the transfer.

Maybe you should get out of meat and go to another department

I just checked the contract for the Louisville division and it says the distance has to be more than 50 miles away from your current store.

I do not know anyone in my KMA driving over 50 miles, that's horrible for a company to make anyone drive that distance for $15-$20 dollars an hour.

Anything is possible.

Under our contract, you can back out from a bid for a position within 30 days of starting and return to your previous position.  But, you can't sign another bid for 6 months.

I knew a guy that backed out the day he was supposed to start his new position.  He got another department manager position at another store 2 months later.  The store managers could have complained and stopped him from getting the job.  But, they chose to let him go.

Speak to the Department manager at the store you want to return to.  Speak to the store manager at same store.  Speak to you Department District coordinator.  The store manager and District coordinator are the only people that can make switch happen.

I was driving about 45 miles to my last store until they moved me a little closer. In my district they move department heads very often.

Its likely thats he's a meat cutter and thats what he does for a living. Also, why take a pay cut to fill shelves and bag groceries?
