Can you get fired because your criminal background if you already started your training and orientation ? They were completely honest on the application and when signing background information.

Were they upfront about it? It seems a little weird for them to continue the process if they even think they won't get hired. ?? Would they even have got a call back if it was on the application?

When I applied, I disclosed my misdemeanor trespassing conviction from a few years back on the application. At the interview, the HR lady asked me if that was the only conviction I had, I said yes. Which is true, it's the only one. She did the drug swab, and was working few days later. Here I am a few months later, still not fired.

I've watched associates go through the hiring process, orientation and start working regular shifts before ultimately disappearing two, three or even four weeks later. Kroger is so desperate for help that the company hires and puts people to work in stores before the background check even comes back. Then, when the background check finally does come back, what is sometimes contained in that report forces the company to terminate the employee on the spot. So yes, it's possible to actually start working and getting paychecks from Kroger only to be abruptly fired because the background check came back and contained stuff in it management didn't like.

They used to wait for the background check but that changed a couple years ago so yes, if your background check comes back and management gets an email... POOF, youre gone. Ive seen people survive past probation because background was so slow coming back. Totally ridiculous.

As long as you didn't lie about it on your application or to the HR that hired you. If you lied about something and it comes up on your record, you will get fired.

I know someone who was hired with a felony on their record, so as long as you are honest i don't think it should be a problem.

Sure.  We recently lost almost a whole wave of new hires a few weeks in when most of them failed their background checks.

YES, Kro hired a registered offender.... he did all his training and was working up front bagging groceries. The company is desperate. I think they do this on purpose to get them in and then see if they work. Basically, getting temp help until their check comes back.  Bad hiring and operation practices.
