Can they do this?

I've been working at Kroger (#397) for about 4 months now. 3 weeks or so ago one of the store managers offered me to work day shift in produce ( im a nightshift stocker). I told him no and we went about our ways. Then a week later after that I got called out by the other store manager saying I was "slow". I told him I understand and that I will improve. Then my grocery back up manager pulled me to the side and stated that the store manager said either I take the produce job or I keep getting written up until I was terminated. Then just today the store manager took me to the bakery (there was talk that a 3rd shift position was open, which I did not confirm or deny that I would take, it was just a thought.) He then proceeded to change my schedule in Express hr that I now work in the bakery. I told him I didn't want it. He replied "clerk's get put where the store needs you" IM A STOCKER! that's what I put on my application, nothing else. What do I do.?!!!

Yes, they can move you wherever they want you to work except into the meat and seafood department.  Even then, there might be a way to put you in that department.

They can not fire you for not being fast enough.  Refuse to sign write up for this and call your union rep asap to grieve it.  They should have terminated you before you got past your 60 days probation.  They can terminate you for attendance, stealing, falsifying company records, other flaky accusations and not following directions.  Such as, being instructed to work in the Bakery Department.  It could be worse, they could have you conditioning the Dairy and Frozen overnight and filling fast movers.

Talk to your district union rep.   Don't speak with the union rep in your store except to get number for district rep if you can't find it on your own.  Take the other position or leave it.

According to them, you are not a good fit in the Grocery department.  They are trying to find something else for you in the store.

What aisles do you normally work during any given shift?  How many cases do you run?  How long to condition?  How long to break down the truck?

I have two people on my crew that are not up to speed.  One, I will wait for her to mess up on attendance.  The other is on extended probation and has been warned.  I don't like to see people terminated but I need workers that are on the ball and can get ****t done without me holding their hands all night.  I already have enough others that like to goof off while I am trying to do my work.

****t rolls down hill.  Corporate Management demands that the District Manager meet every metric(goal) their computer dictates.  If he/she doesn't, they get replaced.  The District Manager is very demanding about getting work done with hours allotted.  The District Department Coordinator gets yelled at by the District Manager.  The Store Manager gets yelled at by the Coordinators.  The Department Heads get grilled by the Store Managers about hours and OT and getting work done.  The Department Head is supposed to coach their workers to pick up the pace, be more efficient, work faster, do a great job, hurry up and no overtime.  Well, that is how I think it works.

Most of my crew don't give a rats asss if the work gets done and don't care if I get grilled or not.  Some are old timers and others are young slackers.  I have more than enough people that I should not be throwing as much stock as I do.  I have other things I could be doing instead.  They all know that when I am working, I don't have time to stop and monitor them.  I have been making time to walk thru store and just appear while someone is standing there talking instead of working.  I have been trying to think of things to say in order to make them very uncompfortable when I just appear out of no where.  I try and use the honor system and they take advantage of me not hassling them all night.
