don't get fired. never purposely get fired. if you really can't take it, put in your 2 weeks.

it's tempting, i know. i fantasize about saying and doing terrible things to people who totally deserve it, but it's just a job. those people don't mean sh*t at the end of the day. it only makes you look bad if you purposely get fired.

I guess I am an opportunist.

When we had call ins, I would volunteer for as many hours as they wanted to give me.  I am debt free due to all the OT.

I don't care if people aren't responsible and don't need a job.  I don't mind making extra money.

Can you volunteer if you're maxed out at 40 hours?

Not unless they are desperate.  This was a few years ago for me.  Since then, the store has been steadily hiring part time workers.

Just stop showing up for your shifts, and don't answer calls from your store.

The best way would be to tell off your Manager or District/KMA President...haha You most likely would get fired, but you might get an award from all the other associates!

Intercom obscenity during the Thanksgiving/Christmas rush.

The old walkie talkies were able to connect to the intercom.  Anyone know anything about that?

Walkie Talkies cannot connect to the Intercom unless they are IP based and connected to the stores phone network. The Walkies at my store we do not use them I think they do at night not lot duty but during the daytime they are not used. It would be nice if we started back using them most of them got missing. I guess people had them on their hip and walked out with them and never brought them back. Each day same thing until we started getting low on them. And IP based Walkie Talkie's are expensive and I do not see Kroger investing in them.

Just get yourself fired in a way that guarantees you'll get your unemployment. ----A word on this:

First, unemployment is an insurance policy you pay for and don't even get a choice about doing so. It's automatically taken from each of your checks. Second, if you need to leave a really horrible job situation as bad you described, yeah, it's better to set up this scenario. You quit you get nothing, and you've already suffered enough, why not get some $$ for it? Especially since you already paid into it any way.

And third, don't worry about 'burning your bridges' by doing this. In the modern work place people get fired every day and employers know that, it's why they're only concerned with WHY you got fired---i.e., theft, sex harrassment, battery.

We're talking about a ****ty retail job. Get your unemployment cash out, take some time off to look around and/or get some training in something better.
