Bully BookKeeper

The bookkeeper is bullying me by finding every little detail about my job I'm not doing right and giving me lectures even though I've been at the job eight years and she's treating me like I'm day one.  She has no respect for me and keeps trying to find ways to get me punished or written up.  She has more seniority than I but she's bullying me.  I've been workign with her five months and she has lectured me about how I'm not doing my job right for the wrong glance wrong time.  She has given me orders to do work in a very "specific her order" and scolds me if I don't do it "her way".  She has stated claim that some of my paperwork isn't making it to the office.  When I know for a fact that is a straight out lie.  What can I do?  Union only as last resort.

Ask her to point out any errors you make. Because there is more than one right way to do something. Everybody develops his own system how it's easiest for him. But if the end result is the same, then she should let you do your thing. Her way may not be the only right way.

What I tried to do is take note of the things that different supervisors put emphasis on. I, for example, knew that our backup FEM wanted carts to take priority over sweeps but the FEM wanted sweeps to take priority. Just gotta take note of who you're working with and if you don't know. Ask. Ask them a lot what THEY want you to do.

Haha, I recall doing that A LOT when new people started supervising. It annoyed them so much they just stopped telling me to do stuff and realized it eventually would happened without their input.

Why is the bookkeeper giving you orders?

What is your job title?

Excuse my ignorance, but what do you mean by the "Bookkeeper"?  You mean the person who reads through the handwritten time sheets and adjusts any forgotten "clock ins",  etc?    What is that official job title at most stores?  Is it called "bookkeeper"? I thought it was called something different here, don't remember people calling it the "bookkeeper"........

The bookkeeper does accounting.  Youre thinking of the timekeeper or payroll person which is usually the AA.

Theres nothing wrong with the bookkeeper trying to make you better at your job.  As far as your paperwork not making it to the office are you sloppy?  Back in the day we had that problem and started stapling our paperwork to a large sheet like the under 10 dollar log so the bookkeeper couldnt bitch about no receipts. Keep in mind they are required to find something that needs coaching.

BagBoy has a point. At my last store I gave priority to 1+1 & everything else could burn and my backup was obscessed with gobacks no matter how busy it was, shed send everybody on go backs. Herself included so cashiers ended up bagging their own stuff & we were always running out of carts. SMH

1st, Accounting/Bookkeeping isn't hard and isn't "paperwork" intensive unless someone is doing stuff OLD SCHOOL and not using the current technology to their advantage! The only thing that really needs to be kept and looked over is the 31 day file and the corresponding receipts. We as a company have not done a good job making everyone jobs easier, we still hold onto ancient ways of doing things because no one told us to stop! Doesn't anyone remember OLD Accounting with Weighting $$$ or Jet Sorting/Scanning? Everything was hand keyed into ACE, VB does everything for you!...

Maybe that's part of the problem with Kroger (and everything else) today.  When you have everything done for you by a computer algorithm, you don't learn how to think on your own.

   THAT

This really sounds like my store. Book keepers have nothing to do but sit on their a** all day and make things up.

If you ever read this again: I filed an ethics report against her for the bull **** she's done against me. She really reamed into me in oct 2019 and it broke my spirit. I no longer have the heart to do my job.Regardless of how correctly I do it she bitches at me I'm supposed to do it this way. She has zero respect for me period. I've been nothing but nice to her and she's been a straight up a-ss hole bit-ch to me for no reason.  Well dear I did do it that way and you won't believe me that I did it that way. You spend hours bitching about how I'm doing things wrong when I'm doing nothing wrong at all. I use the digital coupon code 23456 and you bitch at me how I did it all wrong then you explain to me to use the code 23456 and bitch at me how I did it all wrong.  If you can't find errors in my work you scribble bull sh.it in and tell me how I did this and that wrong. It's an old battle. The decision of the ethics report was this: She can't talk to me about work issues unless it comes directly from our fes or management. Due to the fact she kept reprimanding me verbally over bull shi-t I did correctly. And the fact she was trying to get me fired wit her illegal scribbles. Her rain of terror is over as she's realizing how little power she has over staff and staff are fuc-ken sick of it.
