Does utility equal courtesy clerk plus extra work?

Are we to be treated as a courtesy clerk because the budget apparently doesn't allow for more than two courtesy clerks? I don't mind bagging and getting carts, but it's hard to keep the restrooms clean and do my stuff while trying to do a job a courtesy clerk shoud be doing. I find myself being the only bagger most shifts even when scheduled for utility. Is this how things are supposed to be? I've been working here about a month. 8 bucks to do the same job as a courtesy clerk, which they get, plus do more just doesn't make sense. But nothing in jobs like this ever do. So is this how all Kroger stores use utility employees or do some actually let them do their job because they have courtesy clerks to bag?

Basically, yep. Although you could stop that completely by changing your schedule to only work very early morning hours just enough time to get all the cleaning and trash duties done and miss the rush. But generally utility clerks do have to bag if there aren't enough courtesy clerks.

I also forgot, courtesy clerks sometimes have to do utilities too. Like trash and cleaning the restrooms. Courtesy clerk and utility clerk can be interchangeable.

At the two Krogers I've worked at, the utility clerks, clean, bag and get carts.

Both positions are the same thing. Usually a utility clerk position are for certain people who will never move to another department for obvious reasons. UC has a pay increase while CC doesn't get raises.

Cc's seem to be at the bottom of the chain. Especially the way they are treated. I believe if it were possible, they'd be "lower than the lowest life form...and it's NOT right. Cc's do ALL of the work, nobody else wants to do. And then some. I've seen some cc's be given "vacations of unspecified legnth" because they refused to add any more into their already overflowing plate, and do ONLY what they were hired to do. Maybe if they got raises...

Ours do too. One guy we have to do a search party for him. He's either in the bathroom on his phone, outside hiding behind our dumpster in the back on his phone, or recently in Starbucks on his phone, and once in his car on his phone. And yes not on a break either.

Ours screw around and cause drama. They actually think they are better than people I higher positions than them, so they will act offended when told to do something, and act entitled, thinking they get to do exactly what someone with more seniority can do.
