I figured by now there would be a lot of questions on here about what happens to employees when their store is closing, what happens when someone transfer to another store, does it mean hours, positions, seniority would change, etc? I guess no one is really that concerned or none of you live in or near the district I work.

With a store closing, your basically just transferred to a store of your choosing. Depending on your position it means a few different things. If your a clerk you would just be scheduled within your seniority, working whatever shifts the new store schedules. If your a Department Head/Lead/Assistant, they will try to moved you to a store that is needing someone in your position or you will be transferred to a store that needs additional help. Normally, If a stores is closing the company let you chose your store and does not try to force you into anything. I would also say, I have seen many people transfer store to store trying to find the right "fix" or get fired because they didn't conform to the new store environment and acted out

Any store could face this possibility.  Normally, lower sales = little profit, expenses can then force the store into the red. If your store has not been remodeled/expanded and is looking dated, its possible they can not justify a remodel because of the low/no profit.

What area/district are you in?

BTW  I have found that there is only a VERY TINY percentage of Kroger workers who know about this site. (They're too busy scrolling Facebook or something? Or they have no interest or curiosity about Kroger culture and it's employee's potential outlets for discussion online  .

There are currently 7,812 registered members on this board (many of whom no longer read it or are even employed by  kroger). Assuming that most Kroger employees who frequent this site are NOT registered (so posting as anonymous), lets say there may be about 5 times as many (39,060) who read it regularly...... and that's just a wild guess.   Looking at the stats at the bottom of the home page, it looks in an average 24-hours, about 1500 to 1900 people land on this site.

According to Wikipedia, Kroger runs 2,778 stores. Counting all employees (from the big brass big-shots to the lowest of the low) there are about 443,000 employees. That would average out to about 160 employees per store........but counting all the upper management, office headquarters,  etc, of course many of those employees are not actually working IN a store.

Using 443,000 employees as the number, 39,060 readers/posters  is only 11.3 % of the total. So, using those figures as a guess, there might be around 88.7% of Kroger employees that never ever read this site.

Also, has anyone went on the Reddit discussion board about  Kroger? You might consider it as another 'competing' message board about Kroger and it's ups and downs and ins and outs.....................I am sure some of the same people who post on here have read and/or posted on that board as well.
