Our store manager caught a whole family trying to steal
Permalink

They were trying to steal a whole cart of stuff, probably $150 worth. So the manager, two security guards, and four cops were there trying to negotiate, right there at the door, what charges the family was going to receive based on whether they were now going to pay for the stuff they were trying to steal.

On an even stranger note, as I was walking to the parking lot after my shift, a car loses control on the main road right next to the CVS that's next to our Kroger. I see that the right front wheel is completely gone, and the it's basically being scraped on the bottom of the car's frame. The driver backs into the parking lot through the grass, then cuts across the grass again into the other main road. No one was chasing him. No explanation why he had no front wheel.

Strange day today.

Lol, I wouldn't say that is too strange...its kinda expected at that location. After about 10 years nothing will really surprise you anymore.....

There would be NO NEGOTIONS on how to pay. They would be told how it was going to be handled and they WOULD comply.
. LIKE IT OR NOT. Community service or whichever was decided. PLUS BE BANNED. PERMANANTLY!! if that were me.

Why is Kroger so reluctant to prosecute shoplifters?

I forgot to mention there was a fire alarm, and everyone had to leave. It was, I think, the first fire alarm since the store opened. Fire trucks arrived and everything. We were outside for 10 minutes. I think something burned in the kitchens of the bakery.

Yeah, I think I saw a male, a female, probably the parents. Another female, probably aunt or friend of the parents. And I definitely saw three kids with them, aged around 12 to 15.

the audacity of that is mind blowing. how can you bring yourself to steal an entire cart of groceries and not expect to get caught? sneaking out 1 or 2 things is enough, but that's on another level of absurd.
