Your manager may be violating the terms of your contract. Our contract (Louisville Division) says that vacations must be chosen by March 15th and approved by April 1st. It also says vacations may be taken 52 weeks out of the year. However, they can limit the number of people who go on vacation in a given week.
That sounds right for my Union Contract, Vacation Schedules to be posted by 2/15. Managers have the right to block weeks depending on the business needs, Nov/December are difficult months because of the Holidays.
Yes like EUID said, according to my division all vacation schedules must be posted by mid Feb. This is to make sure everyone gets the weeks picked fairly according to seniority.

After they come down, someone with less seniority can take a week you may have wanted off.

We just got our calendar the other day. I just haven't had a moment to catch up with one of the back up managers to say when I'd like to take mine. I hope I can do it tomorrow as I'll be in deli. But still kind of doubtful as it's Friday dinner night and the deli back up is going to be super busy and I think the bakery back up is off that day.
