Being scheduled outside my availability almost every week
Permalink

It's getting annoying. We used to have a decent scheduler, then they gave it to someone else who doesn't know what they're doing and makes careless mistakes. It's not like we're understaffed either.  Some days I can only work until 3 and I end up getting scheduled til 5, and they already have 4 other employees who came in at 2 to close. Why would I need to stay until 5?

I complain about it, but they act like it's my fault that they can't follow people's availability. Sorry I have a class at 3:30, I'm not missing that! But they treat me like I'm a troublemaker when we've had almost the exact same conversation every other week and they seem to forget immediately.

Have you verified that your availability is showing in the esched portal? I had a co-worker go through something like this only to find that her availability had been overridden in the portal and was no longer showing.

Definitely check if your availability is in the system right. Next step would be to address it with management. If they are no help, go to the union. Im very lucky that my dept head respects everyones availability. I have never had this issue. Best of luck.

Hmm in the portal it says my schedule is 6am-3pm on that day, so no issues there. I think the scheduler is just an idiot, unfortunately. Everything you say goes in one ear and out the other..

Then you should definitely escalate to the store manager, imo. If the store manager won't fix it, get the union involved and they will.
