I am a member of local 75 and I feel like they sprung this on us to soon. We did not know that they were even talking about a contract. I have heard two different things about wages. $1.20 over three years and &1.60 over three years. Union is pushing this contract to be ratified but I feel like there is something that the union is not telling. Union could at least had meetings about this before trying to have one meeting to open the contract and then vote to except the contract the same day.
Cincy/Dayton ends in June 2018, but it took them 8 months after the last contact to actually get something done. I wonder if they only talked about wages, when they really should also talk about work load/staffing levels, elimination of positions and worker moral.
Also, why is there not any information on the Ufcw75 website or social media sites?

yeah, that's what i'm confused about. contract doesn't end until June, but they're pushing for an early vote in March without giving out ANY info about it?
All i'm hearing are rumors of pay increases for new hires in deli/bakery as well as a higher top out rate, i've heard a rumor of the creation of a bakery backup position (only in large stores though) but i can't seem to find any concrete info about it!
I might just have to drive to Dayton on the contract vote day just to see what this is all about. They don't even have any info about the vote on their website either.
They need to actually make a Bakery Backup, Bistro Department Head, Grocery Backup, Dairy Backup positions also establish a Janitorial Department. The only way they could get a wage increase for new hires would be to raise the top out rate, but still I'm guessing the starting pay isn't competitive with other retail stores.
I saw my union rep today actually, and he had a copy but didn't let us actually look at it. He did show me a bit of the wage increases and yes, the bakery backup thing is true to an extent but is going to be a pilot program in only 2 stores at the moment.
$11 an hour to start in perishable departments though, $10 to start for non perishable departments, and $12 to start on night crew. As well as 30 cent yearly raises for deli/bakery department heads.
I'm going to the vote on Thursday because i need more answers. lol
EUID, i've never understood why grocery doesn't have a backup but drug/gm does. I guess the night lead is kind of a grocery backup, but day grocery needs help too.

So you start at $10/$11 and then top at $15? Isn't horrible for new hired, but kind a slap in the face for all the people that worked for years to make $10.00 an hour.
Yeah, my new payrate by 2021 would be almost $20 an hour, so not too bad for department heads, but yes, the people who are in the middle of the range of the payscale seem to be the ones screwed over by this.
I understand Kroger needs to raise the starting wage for new hires but people who has been with Kroger for years worked their way up the wage scale and we get only .30 a year for three years. I started out as a bagger thirty one years ago at 3.45 a hour and became a clerk and worked my way up the wage and seniority list but there is people at my store who has ten years or less who thinks they should get to jump over the people who has been there for 20-45 years. I am tired of department heads always getting more higher wages than a regular clerk. We do same work. I am going to the union meeting next week to see about the contract. I have heard so many different things I do not know what to believe. The union is pushing this to hard. The union was supposed to have meetings with membership and tell us what they were going for but instead they pulled this out of thin air and sprung this surprise on us. We do not have enough time to figure out what is going on.
The procedure is go to meeting watch video ask whatever questions you have and vote. They dont/wont let you see contract ahead of time. It is curious why they are pushing so hard to open contract early and pass a new one. Very shady is what my intuition tells me. I got one crappy survey about contract and now hurry and vote on this?
Just vote NO. Plenty of time for them to go back and get us more!!
Check out their salary's and tell me this is a good contract....https://www.unionfacts.com/lu/544266/UFCW/75/#leaders-tab
If we are paying them so much why do we get so little?
Vote no. This is a pay cut. I'm part of a pilot district and they have stopped drug testing they no longer provide uniforms. So my extra 1.60 or 1.40 a hour is a pay cut as I'm. Buying all my own clothes now. They will be stained from the "splashless" bleach and I'll be told to go home or get a new pair.
Vote no. This contract is strait union busting and the union is eating out of their hands. Thanks Kevin, you really let us down accepting a pay cut for the employees and whatever bull**** is hidden in there this time.
Time to strike. Kroger's got a tax cut, has been running departments at 40% capacity, no ot, and they got one person doing 4 jobs.
I truly believe this is the last chance we have and we are being sold out. New contract or strike.

I was wondering about the blue vests and aprons, let me guess, "Feeding the Human Spirit" is allowing associates to have freedom in how they dress? So they stopped Drug Testing, providing Uniforms to possible get a "Better quality of associate" ? I'm sure there is alot of people that don't care for the uniforms, but you really want to wear your "normal" clothing 24/7 at work? I think I'm like most people my age, I buy expensive jeans and shirts that are not too cheap, I would sure be alot more happy when my $7 uniform pants rip then the $100 pair of jeans. So if the contract clearly states "Company will provide Uniform" why isn't the Union at least making the company give associates $25-$50 bucks for a clothing allowance for ware and tare? If the Prez isn't earning his $500k a year with Contract Negotiations, when is he going to really earn it ?
I saw someone mention the blue vest and apron "uniform" on reddit, and i thought it was the stupidest idea ever. I think we will look so much more unprofessional, and working in the bakery, i'm going to get all my clothes dirty or ruined with icing, because i get messy.
And stopping drug testing, that's really getting us quality employees. People now don't want to work, this isn't going to help any. -_-

They didn't drug test when I was hired 30 years ago. I'm not exactly sure when it started. I work with someone who's been there for almost 20 years. Next time I see them, I'll ask them if they were tested.
