I've worked in both and I would say that meat is definitely better. Less stress, more organization, seems to attract more stable/serious/ready-and-willing-to-work team members.
But the deli at my store is awful. Some managers like to use it as a punishment department. Everyone is miserable, and the turnover rate is crazy high. Walmart's deli pays better, so we lose employees to them too.
