The store I'm at just had an additional six self check outs put in and like half of the traditional registers removed. We're up to twelve self check outs now and more self check outs are planned to be installed within the next three or four months. And yeah, they're gearing up for Scan, Bag Go at my store within the next couple of months as well. That being said, there will still be a need for checkers and other staff on the front end... I just expect them to (eventually) schedule even less help and give that help fewer hours once all this up and running.
My store they are now requiring all cashiers 16 years and older to learn uscan. We currently only have 6 uscans but soon we will have at least 12. Going to have only 5 or 6 traditional lanes left.
not sure how this is going to work when its the holidays or upcoming storms when you got hundreds with buggy full of food trying to check out when u only have 6 checkstands
