i recently went on medical leave due to a shoulder injury outside of work a month or so ago, and i'm due back on march 27th, which is what my doctor signed and kroger has in their system. problem is, i definitely won't be able to work with that arm for a while after that. is it possible to get an extension on a leave of absence beyond 2 months? sorry for being naive, i've never had to do this before!

You can, but I'd get something in writing from management. Not unheard of for people to be fired while on leave, or shortly upon returning from leave, and have them cite some crap technical policy nobody's ever heard of.
Yes you can get an extension. I was out of work for almost 7 months with a herniated disc in my back that eventually needed surgery. No it also was a none work injury (meaning I couldn't prove it was work related for them to pay but it was). In the Atlanta Division where i work you can get 90 day leaves of absence at a time. You just have to get your doctor to fill it out and hope Kroger/Union approve it.
