I would work in the Bakery or Meat Department instead of the Deli. Bakery seems easier than Deli. I mean they don't have to do as much cleaning and don't have as many customers as Deli. Meat department has more men than women so there is less gossip. I like Kroger I just wish they would stop hiring so many procrastinators and childish adults.
I don't mind Kroger, i just hate the way the company is being run. I actually really like the bakery department, and am probably happy with the one i'm in. I do kind of wish i could have learned more departments though.
I worked in retail for nearly 20 years before I saw an opportunity and made my break. I've been in health care now for coming up on two years, and I couldn't be happier with my choice. Getting ready to go back to school and advance my career options.
If I could start over I would want to do something in Human Resource or Accounting. Retail is not the place I want to spend anymore time because eventually all our our jobs including stock might be out source.

Thats funny, most meat guys are the biggest gossips and drama queens, I should know Im a meat guy.
They won't be gone, just different than we currently know them. That's life. There will be a sweeping wave of restructuring that will vastly change some jobs while ellimnating others. Some of these changes simply will not work, tho, and will result in changing back. Like the robot inventory scanners that are supposed to replace dept. leads. Uh uh. No way that's gonna work. Can you imagine a drone-bot scrambling around in a blown-out warehouse? Me either!
