What's the procedure? Do you do things differently for ad changes?

I do the bulk of the grocery orders for our store.

1. Keep a list of fast selling items and sales items for the week (though you should know what sells at your store and to always order or to have the computer always order)

2. Look at the ad, look at display plans, order to fulfill displays and to support ad until the next truck (again, experience will teach you best on what sales items "sell" and which ones are a waste of time, though corporate doesn't want you to tell them that).

3. Always remember to account for your crew. If you're not going to have a lot of people, ask yourself, what doesn't HAVE to come in? Do a decrease order for that sub number. Usually at our store if I know we need a lot of 'x' (like canned goods near thanksgiving), I'll cut our chemical and water aisles down besides the essentials.

A lot of the ordering can be streamlined by keeping your eye on minimums. I know there are "standards" but seriously, if you sell three a month, you don't need to be reordering to fill the shelf when you still have a dozen in stock.

You can also auto increase on sales items only, which will give you an across the board bump but I'd suggest looking at the result as you might need to bump it up/down even further. And, of course, do at least some of the editing in the handheld so you get "credit" for editing the order.

Do you print the order and then walk the aisles with the handheld adjusting as needed? If so, is there a specific way to print the order?

Even more questions.

How far out do you order ad items?

How can you check the forecast?

Is oms a common issue in getting excess product?

Do the sub departments like nutrition handle their own ordering?

Can you only take of product through the handheld?

What mode are you supposed to order in?

You can print off your order on the computer in isp. go to reports then go to order detail. Select your catalogs and hit p for print.

Sometimes I print my order and walk the aisles but I find it takes some time so I dont always do that.

On isp on the computer you can go to order processing check your order and each catalog you want to edit and review and they have a column that says the forecast.

Nutrition should be handling their own ordering but in our store grocery and natures market have taken over some of their stock so therefore we order what we stock of theirs.

you Can change balances on isp only in the rf handheld settings as far as I know. In order processing you can not take an item off you can only decrease the order or add an item. Personally I like to print the order detail report then go to rd handheld on isp and edit my order there. I can type faster and Im able to remove items.

You do the order in order review. Hit 1 for CAO then 1 for inventory management the I think 4 for order review then whatever number corresponds with your dept.
