Unused vacation when leaving.

I tried to put my weeks vacation in a few weeks ago but it got denied for all 3 weeks I had choosen, I picked again but nothings showing up on the eschedule site to say its been approved.

Im leaving and plan to hand my notice in very soon, will I get paid for the weeks vacation or not? Even if its unused?

If your vacation request is more than 2 weeks ahead, it won't show up as approved or decline until the department head/backup are actually working on that week's schedule and have to either approve or decline it.

When my daughter put in her 2 weeks notice and quit, she received her unused vacation pay.
It took a while for it to be paid out, but she did get it.

You should be paid for it because it's time you've already earned.  If you work one year and then put in two weeks notice. you should still be paid for that vacation you earned after working a year.

I'm new to kroger. Can someone plz explain to me how vacations work? How long do you have to be there to get a vacation? How many vacations do you get? Are they paid or unpaid?

How new?

Vacations are based on negotiated contracts with the union.

Generally, most people get a week vacation after one year.  You are paid your average hours per year.

Your contract may be different.

3 yrs - 2 weeks

8yrs - 3 weeks

13 yrs - 4 weeks

18 yrs - 5 weeks

Well, I've been here about 3 months. What about unpaid vacations? Like, say I wanted to take a 5 day break or something?

You can request unpaid days off at greatpeople.me .  But, they are only requests.  If you are denied and call in, it is an automatic no call, no show.  You could try and ask your department manager first.  Or, ask a store manager/co manager.  If it is a slow week, they might let you have it off without pay.

it is against the law not to pay you for time you have already earned, I worked at Kroger 44 years, and if vacation time is not turned in even after the 1st of the year, I always received a check for time owed to me.
