So tomorrow is going to be interesting as I am the only one left on the schedule in my department.

I am scheduled to bake. The 8-4 person quit with no notice. The 1-9 person is "sick" with a doctors note even though I haven't had her work a full week without calling off in idk how long.

And my store manager wouldn't let anyone work 6 days to help me because we used up so much OT getting ready for our store walk.

Day before Easter and one person scheduled in bakery for the day... Lord help me.

You should call out too. What are they gonna do, fire you?

Or hire more help?

I hope you gave yourself a very small bake.  What do they expect you to do about cake orders or filling the cases?  Surely you can pull some people from the deli to help you?  If it were me, I wouldn't bake anything.  I would just spend my time filling the cases and the tables.

The deli couldn't spare anyone today either since we couldn't get anymore OT.

I did a small bake (and we ran out of italian bread early, that made some lady mad) and filled the floor with what i could. Luckily there was only one cake order left that i did too. I ended up staying an hour over anyway. Tomorrow's going to be great when everything is completely empty... what a fun easter weekend. lol

Easter normally is slow, just put our all the Unicorn items and all other frozen Easter items. Any Bunny Cakes this year?

Oh wow, that is so incredibly lame of your store's management. I feel for ya. They have no idea how much pressure that puts on a person. Hang in there, do what you can. Don't worry about the rest. Since it looks like nobody else worries, especially not the management.

Btw, what is it with this "no 6th day" poop? With pay rate making our pay checks not enough to make a living, loss of 6th day pay is rather painful. It's a huge part of my paycheck and not having it really hurts. Are all stores so strict about not allowing people work 6 days?

Every store I have been to will not let you work six days, unless you have an older contract guaranteeing it, or they are desperate, and even the latter may not be enough.

I was working produce and the gal over in deli talked management into pulling me over to help her. I was already alone and over my head in my own dept., and I was pissed. But I went over any way. And you've never seen someone draaaaaaaaag their feet slower than I did that day, and play the retard card to the max: 'uhhhh, how do I do _____ and how do I do _____? Again?' A few times of that and she was like 'oh F * C K it! Go back to produce, I don't care!!!!'

I did smile

HA HA!  The instant I first saw the title of this discussion yesterday, I thought of that song!!! Eric Carmen, ALL BY MYSELF.  hey, if any of you Kroger 'youngsters' haven't heard that song, give it a listen. A true classic from the 70s!  Great piano, background strings, not to mention a great voice.   We should start a petition and send it to  In-Store Audio Network to start playing that on the Kroger music feed.

Just now seeing this and have to say that is just a crime that they would do that to you. And somewhat thankful that half the time my deli back up is smart enough to realize when you don't have enough folks to close stuff down properly or work an area for the day. You close it up early and keep it moving. As there is no way in the hell one person can do 50 jobs at once. Glad the lord was with you, even if the common sense of others was not.
