In my town we have four stores. All used to be 24 hrs, the only 1 left open all night is in such a ghetto-azz area I'm amazed it's open at all. A friend of mine is a produce lead and was sent there to help out one day, came out on break and found his car stereo ripped right out. Broad day light.
BUT---oddly enough, there's otherwise very little crime in and around that store. I keep waiting for the shoe to drop (or the bodies)..
Mostly it's drug use. We get tons and tons of drug use in our restrooms and find needles every month or two. Sometimes, drug sales occur in the restrooms. A security guard found a baggie of meth at SCO last year, and courtesy clerks find weed in carts or in the parking lot at least two or three times a year.
A few months back, we had a guy just laying in the front of the store in the midst of an opioid overdose. The firefighters had to hold him down to give him Narcan, and maybe even until the police showed up.
A few years back, we also had a lot of cars being broken into and some purse snatchings. The pharmacy was robbed a few times years back then.
I saw an attempted purse snatching. This lady's husband beat the purse snatcher to a bloody pulp. You couldn't even tell if the purse snatcher was human by the time he was done.
Kept out of it though. Was going on a trip on my vacation and I was NOT going to screw that up.
Couple weeks ago we had someone try to break into the front end service counter safe overnight when the store was closed, afterwards he got into a fist-fight with a couple employees and was subdued until police arrived. Saddest part to me was that management seemed less concerned about the attempted break-in and fight and more concerned that someone might get fired over it (no one got fired).
