How long of a lunch do all you take?

Just wondering. I, of course, tend to be scheduled for 30 minute lunches. However most days I work as the 5:00am to 2:00pm combo clerk but I usually just take 30 minutes and leave at 1:30pm. Do any of y'all actually take an hour?

Depends. Some days I'll take 40 minutes, others I'll go home and come back just before the end of my shift. I'm in pretty good with the SM so that helps. So does being a hot blond with big boobs, I'll never stop being amazed at what power big boobs has over men, tee hee hee smile

In most of the stores I've worked in the people in Deli and Front End will take 30min lunches while most other people avoid taking a lunch like the plague and will only take one if management gets up their ass about it. Personally I've been with Kroger 10+ years and have rarely taken a lunch; two breaks and done.

I never schedule a lunch, I just take my 2 15 minute breaks and that's ok with me.

Watch it with the samples.  You can get fired for that.

I'm a cashier, so 8 hour shifts are rare.

If I get one, I always take a lunch just so I can get off my feet for half an hour.  Standing in place for so long just kills my feet and knees, and cashiering kills my back (and soul).  I wish I could walk around and do stuff instead of standing there, praying for death.  I got soaked with chicken blood the other day, helping the deli with trash, and the whole time I was just completely overjoyed at escaping the front end.  It was amazing.

Most of the other departments are so overwhelmed they don't have time for lunch.

Management always gives me a hard time about lunch and it's always super late since losing a single person for half an hour causes a small crisis with Quevision.

Wow that's crazy that you all aren't scheduled lunches or rarely take them! At my store (Ralphs in SoCal), Front End Manager/Sales Managers are on our asses about taking our lunches. I wonder why schedule schedules me for an hour lunch anyway. Managers get pissed if I take an hour and tell me I should be coming 5:30am-2:00pm and not at 5:00am. Don't schedule me at 5:00am then! Crazy.

I work 6 hours (8-2) due to my other job so I only get one 15. When I was working 40 hours, I always took a 30 minute lunch unless I was in a mood where I just wanted to get the hell out of there and would ask to skip it so I could leave a 1/2 hour early.

I alternately found your post amusing and pitiable.....I like your humorous descriptions, but I really feel bad for what you're having to put up with. From one starnger to another: I truly wish you the best..

Yea, at my store associates can't take samples any more do to Loss Prevention being on management's case so much more about things. Which really sucks cause pizza shop used to scan out any of the pizza that didn't sell later on and send it upstairs so it wouldn't go to waste. But now we barely get customers that will pick any up. And it's worse when someone orders two full pizzas and forgets about them.

But honestly it is just all the more reason for us to buy our own candies and snacks and put them in the back of chicken shop for everybody to get some as it is rather tricky most days for us to get away and get something to eat on break.

I think it's interesting they schedule you for a lunch. I like the others have mentioned only ever take my 15 min breaks. We get too slammed and with so many call offs to ever really enjoy a full lunch. Heck, they even came up with a rule now that says if you are over a minute even when taking your 15 min break they count that as a lunch.

I can only imagine it's to catch people that don't officially clock out for their breaks when they go. But dude, I feel like that is unfair for those of us who do actually clock out. Most especially when it takes me about 2 to 3 mins alone to get from the time clock to all the way up two flights of stairs to your locker and then the break room. And no doubt it's all the crazier I'm sure for those that have to clock out and find something to eat if they don't bring in something from home. Just nuts sometimes.

Depends on different states/contracts. Here in California we are supposed to get 2 10 minute breaks (on the clock) and one 30 minute lunch (off the clock) for an 8 hour shift. If you don't take your lunch it sets off a red flag for management since it is illegal for them not to provide lunches. That being said, nobody except front end clerks with scheduled breaks and smokers take the 10s. Ive known several department heads who will just work through their lunch off the clock since they have so much to do. As for me, I take 30-40 minutes for lunch and that's it.

Perk of being non-union is nobody cares, so no, I don't take a lunch. That's money out of my pocket. I can eat when I get home.
