Great as is this is and much as I agree, it'll never ever happen. Like our federal government, there's too much beaurocracy involved, too much power in those cliques, too much budget money to be lost.
Our mindless functionary is being sent to the Happy-Words meeting today. If the company doesn't somehow turn happy words into a metric he can crush, it will be inconsequential, temporary noise.

I've said this many times. Management acts like government workers. They don't care about anything until it effects them.
Whaaaaaat??? Trusting an employee to work to their goals efficiently and empower them to embrace the strength of being human to make their own decisions to better do their job???? No ****in way!

There's a great big bunch of former / now displaced Walmart managers who can speak very loudly to this
They always get mad at us on conference calls for not having an insight story. Well damn people, I've worked a full shift and my INSIGHT STORY(TM) to FEED MY HUMAN SPIRIT(TM) is to get the hell out of Kroger so I can follow BEST PRACTICES(TM) with my girlfriend. And those GD huddles too. Nobody got time fo dat.

Well in retail if you're a stocker/cashier/bagger, you don't have to think very hard to get the job done, unlike other professions.
