I had a job lined up with Kroger and after I took my background check (Ohio pharmacy background check) I received notice from the State of Ohio pharmacy board I'm clean and cleared to work. That's great and I'm all fired up to start working.
Kroger goes silent on me while I'm assuming the State of Ohio folks are passing along that info to Kroger.
Weeks go by and my assigned HR person no longer answers my emails.
I tire of waiting and talk to a different HR person at Kroger. Later that day I get an email from this new HR person, approximately 4 hours later, that said I failed my background check, thanks for applying, yada yada yada.
What the heck?
I phone the State of Ohio Pharmacy Board folks and they say I'm cleared.
Just curious what would be the reason? They're always having job fairs and never seem to be able to fill their jobs (from high turnover)? Even the pharmacy contact person told me they're desperate. Everyone I ran into anyone in the process was excited to bring me onboard.

Where I live there is a pharmacy on the corner of every 3rd street block either inside a grocer or stand alone. Move on. There are plenty of other opportunities.
