so i just started my job at krogers as my second job and i quickly realized how theyre not gonna be flexible with it (one of the hiring managers was even rude about it). i like my other job better as my closest friends works there, the managers are more friendler, it has a flexible and CONSISTENT schedule plus its much closer. do i even need to bother putting in a 2 weeks notice? i heard theyve hired another girl along with me i dont know when shes starting but i would like to leave as soon as possible. should i just put a one week notice?? and who do i give it to?? my head department or store manager??? honestly i rather avoid the store manager incase they try convince me to stay i rather not and i rather work at my other job while finding another job that pays just as much and is flexible with my availability.
Have you you tried talking to your Department Head? Your store manager sounds like he/she is less happy about people who want part-time jobs. However, he/she doesnt make your schedule. Your Department Head makes your schedules.
I have to wonder, though... If things went smoothly at your other job, whyd you bother over here? Why not just stay there? If you left, there had to be a reason.
My initial advice to you is to give this store a shot. Take some time, talk to people. Learn about the overall work environment. If employees arent trying to kill each other, and MOST of the managers dont have a stick up their asses, it shouldnt be too bad.
I also think your Department Head will likely be more flexible with you if you can give a reason. If your DH doesnt listen, then go ahead and quit. Just make sure you have another job lined up before you do.

initially i wanted something a little more different than my current job. i like it there i do but like i said i wanted to explore other places while having my other job to fall back on if the other jobs isnt what i expected or didnt work out for me. plus transportation is gonna be harder in the future if i stick around too long. krogers seems like a good place for some people but i dont think its something for me.
Yeah, Kroger WILL NOT work around anyone's schedule, and especially new hire's. We lose a lot of new employees who have to drop off or pick up their children.
If you don't give two weeks notice, you may be marked as unrehireable. This may not be a problem if you don't intend to come back.
It depends on the store really, because in my store, they're practically bending over backwards to accommodate new hire's schedules. I don't really have anyone to close my department because they thought it was a good idea to hire all people who only wanted to work mornings (and they are good people at least).

Yea, they were pretty accommodating with one of our new hires for deli. But couldn't really be helped as she works as a supervisor over at Taco Bell right next door. And so she works days there and closings in the deli.
But yea, we need closers as well for both the bakery and deli at my store. It's myself and the same few people closing all the time in deli each night. Hell, it's like soon as they even see me coming in they ask me whose closing with me. And more times than not it's me and maybe one other person, or maybe 2 others, if lucky. But for bakery closing, we can't keep new peeps for long. Add to that, when you are the closer down there, yo have to do EVERYTHING else. As the day shift doesn't assist with the other stuff as much. Which totally sucks.
