Transfer from Front End to Meat
Permalink

So I'm transferring from the front end, where I worked at customer service and was a floor supervisor, to the meat department. I'm really tired of the front end's crap and management said it was fine if I switched. So that's happening soon. Do y'all have any tips for working in meat?

The only information I can provide is all the seniority you stockpiled in the front end will bounce back to zero.  Your pay will stay the same but your seniority will go back to zero as your on a different contract.  I'm not meat dep but I heard if you just play suck up and play yes mam/sir no mam/sir and within ethical company protocol reason just do your duties.  Make sure your meat slicers, cutters and tools are in good working condition.  I would suggest to retire with all ten fingers.  Doesn't happen to all.

I think the meat contract part depends on your location, because in Cincy we're all under one contract now.

Meat cutters require experience and pay is 19.95 a hr. Manager pay is only 25 cents more.

Seafood requires no experiece and is mainly a customer service job. Are you sure you're gonna be a meat cutter?

They didn't say they were going to be a meat cutter.  They just said they were transferring to the mest department.  Meat department now is pretty much like and other grocery department.  You open boxes and put the product on the shelf (case).
