Front End Supervisors

So at my store this cashier who has been here only a very short time just got made a Front End Floor Supervisor and a while back there was another who was only there for a few months and then was one. This seems very weird to me. Is this something that happens often? Just curious cause it just seems like people who would be there for a long time would get promoted first but I dont know how it works.

also I dont really get the appeal of being one, at my store they dont get paid any more than cashiers and have to do way more work. Seems like a ton of stress to be honest and not really worth it.

Oh, yeah! I've seen a couple of cashiers who were only working one month get put in office. They were not promoted to ACSMs though. But basically, anybody who is put in the office, learns the service desk, gets to use the override keys, and put on the red vest and be the floor supervisor if an ACSM isn't there. Not everyone at my store who is in the office has done floor supervisor stuff though. I think they're just happy doing the service desk and that's it.

All it really takes is expressing interest to the CSM that you want to be in the office, and they most likely will put you in. At least in my store that's how it is. I've been through two CSM's and they've all put various people in the office, who were once just cashiers. A lot of them ended up leaving Kroger, though. So that's quite interesting.

Even I was about to be put in the office. But... I turned it down and told the CSM I want to stay at the Uscan. Uscan is perfect for me. Service desk, you get all the customers, but none of the fun, and plenty of stress. Uscan, plenty of fun, no stress, plenty of customers, and not having to be on register most of the time.

Yeah, man. It's not worth it to be in the office. All that responsibility, and same pay as cashiers and baggers. The ones who are there must really like customers, and or are probably going to put this on their resume as customer service experience as management, or something like that.

The pay bump isn't worth worth it, and it's a bad deal on its face.  A lot of people who have worked there a while have actually done it, and found it terrible.  Or, they have worked there long enough to know it's not worthwhile.

However, if you have low seniority, it's guaranteed hours.

Another coworker of mine did it just so she could put management experience on her resume.

Several of the cashiers here who try it out, have said it's so stressful and not for them . I can totally see why
