401k?

So I see all the flyers posted in the store about higher wages and 401k match increase from 4% to 5% and this starts June 11st. I haven't ever seen any 401k match. What's up with the lies?

I said the same thing and only non-union employees get a match.  Union employees get a pension but as we've seen pensions go away if the company goes under.  What I don't like is our worthless ceo saying matches for all employees and the news reports it as fact when it's a lie.  This Kroger restock or whatever they are calling it is a joke and nothing more than a PR stunt.

I believe salaried employees get that offer, uplift, that's how they raise the human spirit

I don't know.  If it's not a blatant lie, it's a quarter-truth.

What I heard is that you either have access to a pension, or a partially matching 401k.  But not both.

I could believe it's salaried only.

Union employees used to get a match but they took it away and gave bigger bonuses and wages to management on the backs of the little guys who actually do the work.

This almost wants me to get out of the union. Id much rather have a 401k match than a pension. Who knows if pension will be there and I've been there 10 years and so far my pension Wil only be 40 a month. So another 10 I might be at 100? Wth is that going to do?

Union associates have a pension that is company provide, the company actually submits the funds to 3rd party that runs a consolidated union pension plan. Like social security, if more people are pulling from the fund at the same time then funds being contributed..... (

How long do you have to work before you can file for retirement and get Kroger's pension if you are a Union member?

Not that long.  But what are you going to do with $40 a month?

A better question is, "Is it possible to earn a useful pension?"

I'm not sure about that, but it seems increasingly unlikely.
