Does anyone else have anxiety about customer service?! (Front End Only)

Ive been at Kroger for almost two years and the store I work at is always busy. It has gotten worse because a few surrounding locations were closed. I have seen my coworkers have nervous breakdowns and it is completely understandable. It drains me to be there at times because it seems to me that I have to always cause some sort of ruckus because of a customer. I have to excessively page a member of management or a department member over the intercom. Should I start lying to customers about things or what ? Our store is completely under staffed and I get tired of customers asking me to do other departments duties.

In all the years I worked retail I pretty much flatly refused to be trained on cashiering. People are much too douche-baggy now, and I simply do not have the ability to put up with abuse. I'd say it that way, too: 'You want a fist fight on lane 11, somebody in E.R., me in jail and unemployed? Yes? Keep pushing this on me, then.'

I was just in a Kroger this morning and watched a guy put a younf girl in tears. Took major restarint to walk away.

Yes.  My last location (Issaquah, WA) the customers were so difficult, uptight and arrogant to work with it eventually led to retail ptsd.  It got mentally difficult for me to show up to work.  I basically didn't know when the next customer would go verbally harassive with me.  I didn't know what would set it off.  Even just a wrong glance or look would set it off.  I filed a couple different ethics report with the company regarding a couple different issues. Due to how rude and difficult the customers were to work with at this store.

The clientele at this location are so difficult to work with.  They badly treat the employees like they are slaves or servants.  Employees get blamed for thins they didn't even do.  I was basically proven guilty for thrift several times on days I wasn't even working.  The customer claimed it was me but the company kept reminding them I wasn't working that day.  I had to speak in a raised tone to make them hear the truth.

No human rights at this location and the customers are arrogant when they know the slogan "customer always right" when it comes to dispute.  I'm glad the company is starting to allow us to say "no" to customers now.  At this store you would get that one in a blue moon customer that just harassivly belittled you to the point of wanting to quit or punch them in the face for their belittling inhumanly statements.  This would happen about once every three months.

Customers can be nasty and ungrateful.  Where I am no one wants to use the ATM, they ALL want cash back so as a fallout we struggle to have cash on hand no matter what. No one cares, they just scream and make remarks about the area.  We also had stores close around us.  The strain is immense!

The horror is we have the same hours we had before any of the three stores near us closed.  Can you even imagine? doh  We cannot add hours.  I don't know what's going to happen because the entire front end leadership is on edge of burn out and exasperated with management, with district, with rude customers.

I really think Kroger should close this store. It's too small for what it's being asked to do and the sales don't support all the customers we're getting enough to staff more. no
