what the hell do they do to these grapes to get them to taste like candy? I tried some out today for the first time, and these white grapes taste like they took regular white grapes and dipped them in cherry soda or something.

Well, I hate flavored water. So in that case, I'll just stick to the regular grapes. So much more affordable than these novelty grapes. $9 for a bag of grapes?!

That's the reaction I get from people buying these at the Uscan for the first time and then they ask me to void them. Now it's my reaction too, lol.

Organic + infused with sugar water = $9 bag of grapes, I guess.

What's the point?  I don't like food that tastes like other food.  If I want cotton candy, I'll buy cotton candy.  Grapes should taste like grapes.  I feel the same way about meat marinades.  Some of them are so strong you can't taste the meat anymore.  All you taste is marinade.

I thought that they melted down actual candy then shot the grapes up with it that way. But yea, given how long that would take to do hordes of grapes at once. They most likely do something "genetically modified" like to them.

Possibly to get more kids to actually eat fruit. I swear I recall a time when one of my second cousins acted like it was such a bizarre concept when my mom would make a fruit salad or buy fresh fruit and cut it up. But that was because in said cousin's home they never really bought healthy stuff like that. I mean sure they would get stuff for breakfast, lunch and dinner. But never really much of anything in the way of fruit at all. Which I always thought was so strange. Especially as nobody had any allergies to it. And that I grew up eating all kinds of fruits and veggies and enjoying them.

So I guess if it taste like sugary stuff kids like already. They'd be more likely to eat the healthier stuff. I mean we really shouldn't be surprised they have stuff like this. As there are still no doubt tons of recipes out there infusing veggies into all kinds of cookies and cupcakes, just to get the kids eating healthier and not even realizing it.

That's funny, cause right on the bag there's a label that says "Certified Organic - NON-GMO & MORE"

This!!  This is also why I use propane.  Taste the meat, not the heat.

The article said the grapes are less acidic but I don't like fruit that is all sweet.  You need a tart/sweet ballance.  It's like they keep advertising Northwest sweet cherries.   Sweet cherries make terrible pies.  You need tart cherries for a pie because you need the tartness to ballance out the sweetness of the sugar.  You can't leave the sugar out because then the filling wouldn't turn out right.

Yeah, I'm sorry, I'm never buying these grapes again. They taste absolutely disgusting.

I'll take normal grapes any day of the week.

No, actually sweet cherries do make good pies. You just need to adjust the sugar (use less) and add MORE lemon juice than normal.

Cotton candy grapes do have an odd, sickeningly - sweet taste. I'm not a fan.  But I never wasr much of a fan of cotton candy.  (And I DO like most sweets.........just not THOSE sweets!)
