My money got taken at U-scan
Permalink

I was shopping and got cash back of $20. left it in the machine (mind was elsewhere) and got home, realized i didnt have that money and went back.

asked u-scan clerk if anything had been turned in, she said no. i got the manager to look at the camera with me, and i clearly saw a woman and her friend excitedly take that money that i forgot

he said a police report would cost more than i lost, so there's nothing they could really do. i said why cant we track her down by her kroger card.

i feel like when i am off the clock, i am a customer, and in this case i could be compensated. truth be told, i was going to check out at express lane, but the line was long, due to there only being two cashiers (plus the manager helping).

i dont really care if they find this woman, i just want my money back. i'm on good terms with the company and would avoid a call to corporate, even if that call would achieve anything. what do you think? yawn

Why is kroger responsible for your dumbass forgetting your money? Take it as a lesson learned and move on.

Right if you leave money its your fault not the companies. If you from 100 dollars outside city hall you want the city to pay for it no. That whats wrong with our own customers they thing we owe them something

I think you should take it as a lesson learned and be more careful next time.

it wasn't 'outside' city hall, it was inside their store. there is what would be considered a thief who has a kroger card and will probably shop there again. does the company want a thief to shop there or do they ban them? just because there's unclaimed money sitting out doesn't make it yours. 'finders keepers' is indeed theft if someone still has a rightful claim to it.

If that happened to me, i'd be pissed too but at this point what can Kroger really do? That lady is long gone, you have no idea who she is....

Kroger doesn't owe you a refund because you left the money in there.

Karma will get that lady some day i'm sure.

If your concerned with a thief the file a police report and have them do an investigation. The store can not file a police report for a situation they do not have "ownership" in. The situation occurred between yourself and the person taking the funds. In referring to the $100 city hall comment, they would refer you to the police and the police would gather any information. Police have the ability to request camera footage and subpoena transaction records. The issue is.....its not worth the Police Departments time for your mistake.  The store isn't there to police customers, but rather highly satisfy them and occasionally suggest the act differently while in the store.

If this had been a regular customer and it clearly showed on the security camera that the customer forgot their money, they would have given the money back to the customer.  They should have done the same for the employee.

Depending on the Manager that might be true, but unless an associate is at fault, its not the stores responsibility. Its the same philosophy as a car getting hit in the parking lot by a cart, unless an associate is at fault, the store will not cover the issue.

Or if you find $20 on the ground anywhere (not near a register obviously) there you go. You have $20.00 back
