If you want to be waited on...

...put down your damn cellphone.  Woman this morning kept hanging around the bakery counter with her phone glued to her ear.  I ignored her and went about my business.  She left and came back with her phone still up to her ear.  I kept ignoring her.  Finally she said, "Are you just going to stare at me and not wait on me?"  I said, "I'm waiting for you to get off the phone.  I didn't want to disturb your phone call"  She said, "Oh you won't bother me."  Needless to say, she did not get friendly customer service.  It was there you go.  Now go away.

We have a "no cell phone" policy at our Customer Service counter! It's been working great!

Kudos to you all, still toiling in that misery day in, year out. I did it for 15 years before I got my parole, and looking back on it, I don't know how.

Customer behavior and attitudes like in this topic take such a toxic toll on your psyche and your soul. The rebound effect when/if you leave is itself pretty jolting at first----kinda like what I've heard long term prisoners experience after release. Lol, no sh!t

Employee: Hello how are you doing?
Customer: Paper
Employee: ....would you like help out today?
Customer: that's supposed to be Bogota? Did it show up? Oooh there it is.
Employee: would you like help out today?
Customer: *continues to ramble on phone*
Customer: say something?
Employee: no. Was talking to checker.
Customer: ok. Have a nice day guys. (we say the same)
Cashier: *looks at me* wow. Can't even get off the phone

As a cashier, I always try to skip the shopper's card if they're on their phone.

Discounts these days are fewer and less dramatic, so it's not as fun as it used to be.

Except on some items.  Today, a cell-phoner "forgot" to use it on an order containing cherries.

She could have saved just over $10.  And it was EBT too!  Best order all week.

My personal fave things to see with this are the fools who stumble over street curbs or trip over things or almost walk in front of oncoming traffic----these are a new crop of Darwin Awards waiting to happen, just not fast enough to offset these turds from breeding more fools biggrin
