Still scheduled but did a leave of absence
Permalink

Ive been working for kroger less than a month and I have to go back to college next week. I did a leave of absence about 2 wks ago and told one of my front end supervisors ( Im a cashier) and she said she will tell the person that makes the schedule. I told her This last week before schedules were made for the following week. So a whole week has went by and I go on great people to make sure I wasnt scheduled BUT I AM for 33hrs (mind you Ive never been scheduled over 20). I tried calling the hr manager whom I did the LOA with but she wasnt there. Today is Friday and Im scheduled for Sunday but leave to go to school tomorrow (Saturday).

Any advice

Call out that day. And explain your situation saying that your fe management said it got put in. Explain you will be in school and you can email them your schedule if need be.

Maybe they'll let you cover some shifts in a store where you're going. You should at least ask, being a team player is what you pledged to do

I have to say this just to get it out of my system! Why did a store hire a person to work 3-4 weeks ? While I do understand school is important and I'm not saying anything about the associate. We look at the quick fix and wonder why we are running after our shadows. Take the time to hire, train and get the associate up to speed when you know basically the associate will be "away" in 3-4 weeks.

You need to go to the HR assistant manager and fill out a form... You just can't tell someone and leave.

That's what i was wondering, EUID. Why are we even hiring people who can only work for a month before leaving? That's... ridiculous and helps no one in the long run.
