does anyone else have a rodent problem at their store? we have a very sneaky rat that hides in our grocery trailer and despite long efforts including rat traps, is still a menace to us all. lately we have thrown out so much product that has holes chewed threw it, and worst case scenario, rat poop left inside! it usually goes for the easy to chew through stuff, like bags of pet food, ramen noodles, rice, or anything that's not in a hard cardboard box. our store refers to him as "our furry friend" which i must admit is rather funny, and while i've never seen it in person, i've heard accounts of it definitely being back there.

Yes. Killed one with a pallet jack once. See him running around, huge rat, get him cornered in our salvage trailer, full speed and plow him with it. Ended up with blood and guts all over me. Don't recommend.

There's a competitor grocer here in my town that got shut down a few months ago over this. It was BAD. I guess customers were watching rats scurrying along the base boards and the side counters were filled with chewed open, rat feces filled product .... holy SH!T

For a little while, we had at least one feral cat living back there.

An assistant store manager was taking it upon herself to feed the feral cats behind the store, and one snuck in.  She was trying to tame it, so she fed it canned catfood and let it stay.

Except, the back room started to smell like a litterbox and merchandise was getting soiled.

I think the store manager had to get involved.
