This has never happened to me before. But yeah, here I am on Uscan, thinking it's 8pm. And then boom, before I know it, I look at the clock, it's effing 9:02pm. HOLY ****!!!! And OMG, there's a long line of people waiting on my Uscan and I have to shut 'em down in time for me to catch the bus!

I normally start shutting down 10 minutes prior. Somehow, by the grace of gawd, I was able to get most of those people out in line to use the other Uscans, some I had to let use my Uscan. Others I had to scan manually at my station. OMG what a rush. I got them all cleared and it was now 9:12pm. I got my stuff and clocked out and ran out the door.

Managed to catch my bus with just one minute to spare. Oh my gawd. It was like I stepped into a time machine or something.

Happens, but I would question why the ACSM didn't notice the SCO were not closed. In fact, I question why your stores SCO's closed that early....specially with were your store is located (I know your stores setup).

No one has ever taken notice when I'm late in closing down my Uscan.

But yeah, the Uscan cluster I'm on, always closes at 9pm. The other two clusters remain open. Since they're on the other side of the floor, all the remaining cashiers are moved (if they weren't already put there) to checklanes on that side. There have been a couple special instances, lately, where the ACSM in charge has told me to keep it open so that another cashier can run them after I clock out and leave. But that was cause it was super busy.

But yeah, the norm is for this cluster to close at 9. They also close off one of the main doors to restrict customers to use just the other door.

Why do we keep calling it Uscan? Kroger doesn't use the Fujitsu U-scan anymore.

Maybe for the same reason we call a facial tissue a Kleenex or a cotton swab a Q-tip or a small self-adhesive bandige a Band-aid.

People keep saying that because is was the branding actually on the SCO's for years.  Originally the SCO's were the big BOXED style that was originally manufactured by Optimal Robotics.  In reality saying U-Scan is easier and more recognizable, saying SCO people will not have clue what your saying and self checkout just takes longer.  But the official name for the checkouts now is SCO, eventually SBG will be branded something different too, I see its being called mobile checkout or something.

In reality branding is becoming the same between companies to allow customers to understand the meaning without having to educate every customer between retailers.
